Saint Andrew's: Proudly Affirming
Saint Andrew's United Church is proudly and actively affirming. We believe that everyone is made in the image of God. We also believe that affirming should be PIE - Public, Intentional and Explicit. Yes, you will find us in the Pride Parade. You will also be welcomed in our sanctuary and find our Affirm Committee actively involved in planning gatherings and events.
Check out our Affirm Library, which was built with generous support in memory of Budge and Alan Wilson. We have many resources to help you grow in your knowledge and your faith.
Our Affirm Committee meets regularly to plan events. This year saw the launch of GLEE (Generations sharing Lived Experience and Education), where people from different generations and life experiences come together to share life. Most recently we held a joyous event, Drag Me to Church, with a 2SLGBTQ+ vendor market followed by a drag show.

GLEE
GLEE is a special opportunity to connect with others, whether your family is far away, you're looking for chosen family, or you are looking for friendship. Our September GLEE gathering was a fun after-church lunch with opportunities to connect with and learn from people we might not mix with every day. We found much common ground of shared interests, thoughts and humour. Stay tuned for our next event!
Pride Parade
Saint Andrew's joined members of our sister United Churches in Halifax and Dartmouth. We hosted a light breakfast before the parade the last two years, and a group of 100 marched in the parade.
Our Community
At Saint Andrew's we believe and say often, "It's all church". The groups that gather here are part of our church community. We frequently have Rainbow Refugees events here, and the Halifax Gay Men's Chorus has called Saint Andrew's home for many years. Last summer's Pride Week concert was a tremendous success. The Halifax Gay Men's Chorus, Polaris: Choirs for Change, the Women Next Door, and Quoir all performed for a sold out show. We look forward to partnering with these groups again next summer!
